Antonio Castles has a BA in Fine Art and a BA in History from the Universidad de los Andes . His work Contra la máquina was presented in the international art fair, ArtBo, in 2014. He participated in the International Art Fair of Cartagena in January 2014, and november 2011 during the “IKAS-ART: III Muestra Internacional de Arte Universitario” in Bilbao. In 2015 he presented the series A lo largo y ancho in the gallery Instituto de Visión, in Bogotá. He is currently based in Berlin, Germany.
Ruido 19:6 is a series of paintings made with photographic emulsion on fabric.
The noise of television screens is captured via this process. These works are a commentary on the plausibility of images, and the constant search for better resolution that seeks to shorten the distance between the spectator and reality. The series titled Sin igual y siempre igual was made in 2014, the year in which Colombia underwent the peace dialogues with the FARC, as well as the presidential election a historic event which gained relevance in ideological debates, public opinion, and the future of the country. In the midst of these debates, an event happening simultaneously managed to grab public attention: The FIFA world cup in Brazil. The collective anxiety and euphoria allowed for the football-related festivities, to empty out the streets of the capital city.
